Guide to the Mass
New Mass Translation Offers an Excellent Opportunity for Catechesis
Ascension Press Releases Adult Faith Formation Program Based on the Revised Mass
WEST CHESTER, Pa. (February 25, 2011) — “The First Sunday of Advent in 2011 marks a momentous occasion for Catholics in the United States, as the implementation of the Third Edition of the Roman Missal begins,” explains Matthew Pinto, president of Ascension Press. “This change presents us with an opportunity to learn anew the magnificence of the Mass and the words we use to worship our Creator.”
“The long-term goal of the new translation,” according to the Bishops of the United States, “is to foster a deeper awareness and appreciation of the mysteries being celebrated in the Liturgy.” In Were Not Our Hearts Burning, the U.S. Bishops also remind us that “adult faith formation… must be the central task” of catechesis.
